The W.T. Anderson Health Center

W. T. Anderson Health CenterThe W.T. Anderson Health Center has a long history of community service and commitment to community health. It was created in 1916 as an outpatient clinic of The Macon Hospital and has grown with and into an essential component of The Medical Center of Central Georgia, enhancing the health status of those served.

The W.T. Anderson Health Center provides comprehensive, quality healthcare and health education for Central Georgia residents. In addition, it is a source of practical outpatient clinical experience for medical residents of The Medical Center of Central Georgia/Mercer University School of Medicine and other health professionals.

The W.T. Anderson Health Center provides access to 28 multidisciplinary clinics, which include primary care and specialty care for our special patients. We have more than 50,000 visits each year. Charges are based upon a sliding fee scale determined by financial eligibility criteria.

Our Goals:

  • Serve as a primary care provider for medical and obstetrical services
  • Promote continuing care for patients discharged from The Medical Center of Central Georgia
  • Prevent costly emergency center visits by offering continuity of care clinics, episodic and specialty clinics
  • Serve as a referral center for various community agencies
  • Assist patients to achieve the highest level of wellness possible (an appropriate level of competency) and ability to continue activities of daily living through a combination of
    • Assessment, diagnosis and treatment
    • Health education and self care responsibility
    • Health promotion and prevention of disease
    • Patient advocacy and empowerment
