Macon and its surrounding counties, the very best in trauma care. The Emergency Center works hand in hand with our Trauma
Surgeons to be waiting in the event that you or your family may need them. This
team, of highly skilled professionals, is dedicated to serving you and your
family any time of the day or night.
DAY OR NIGHT WE ARE HERE FOR YOU
The Med is the only hospital in Macon to have a
Surgery Trauma Team in the building twenty-four hours a
day. This team is constantly on standby. There is never one
minute in any day the trauma team is not available. This means a lot! After
all, accidents and tragedies are not respective of persons or time. It is also
good to know that, should you need surgery any time of the day or night, the
trauma team can get you there within a matter of minutes.
Credentials
The nursing staff, of the trauma team, has a
variety of certification to their credit. They include but are not limited to
the following:
 Trauma Nurse Core Course
Providers and Instructors
Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course Providers and
Instructors
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Providers and Instructors
Pediatric Advanced Life Support Providers and Instructors
Certified
Emergency Nurses
(These credentials are instituted through the American Heart
Association and the Emergency Nurses Association.)
Trauma Critical Care
 All trauma care is performed in a state of
the art trauma bay with special lighting and high tech trauma equipment. We have
specialty equipment to provide warmed resuscitation IV fluids. We have specialty
warming blankets to keep the trauma victim warm and comfortable.

MED?
The following statistics are based on trauma
patients with an admission to the hospital that exceeded two days. This does not
include the enormous number of those who are fortunate not to need
hospitalization.

Injury prevention is one of our most important
missions at Trauma Services. Our Trauma Coordinator is dedicated to providing
injury prevention programs at our neighborhood schools. Perhaps you have some
questions or concerns about the increasing number accidents or violent crimes in
Macon. Our Trauma Coordinator would like to hear from you and give you the
resources that you need to get your questions answered. We do have some real
issues of concern here in our town, but by working together we can make
