The Pavilion

You’re not alone.

Everyone experiences problems in life at one time or another. And sometimes those problems can be so great, it’s more than any one person can bear. That’s when you need help. Professional help. At The Pavilion, we help people get through the tough times.

The Pavilion is unlike any other psychiatric facility in Macon . We provide a warm, relaxed environment within a medical center so patients can be more responsive to treatments and therapies.

The Pavilion is located within the Medical Center of Central Georgia on the sixth floor. Our location facilitates ease of coordination for state of the art medical care. Your primary medical physician is able to treat your medical needs while your psychiatrist and the Pavilion team treat psychiatric issues.

Therapeutic Facility

Mental health education groups are conducted daily followed by brief discussions. These are to help you understand your emotions and how you can best help yourself. Topics for these include:

  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Self-esteem
  • Co-dependency
  • Assertiveness
  • Stress
  • Schizophrenia
  • Medication Management
  • Addictive Disease

The Patient’s Needs Come First

A multidisciplinary team consisting of highly qualified personnel, including a psychiatrist, a registered nurse, a social worker, and a recreation therapist works with the patient to develop goals and to create an individualized plan for recovery. The goals and plan are assessed periodically for effectiveness.

The Individual

As part of the individual treatment plan, a nurse and social worker are assigned to work closely with each patient and their family. Each patient receives a physical and mental examination, intensive and supportive individual psychotherapy, group therapy and individually prescribed activities, as well as recreational therapy. Electro-convulsive therapy is available when indicated.

Often a loss in the family or life situation can result in a need for help. We offer grief counseling which helps people deal with their feelings about the losses in their lives.

The Family

Involvement of family and friends is key to a person’s recovery. A family and friends group meets weekly to discuss mental illness and its effects on those people closest to the patient. Psychiatric social workers are available for couples or family therapy depending on a patient’s need.

At The Pavilion, we do our best to ensure the family is involved for their sake and the patient’s.

Pavilion’s “65 plus” Program

At The Pavilion, we help people get through tough times. One of the toughest times many may experience is coping with the problems associated with aging. Our staff is expert in dealing with these unique problems and in assisting the family through this difficult time. We have a specific approach for the treatment of those over 65 years of age.

The frustration of aging sometimes leads to depression and anxiety, which can and should be treated. Signs and symptoms seen in those over 65 years that would indicate a need for our help include:

  • Insomnia
  • Feelings of worthlessness
  • Acute anxiety for no apparent reason
  • Feeling scared, lonely, and depressed
  • Loss of appetite
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Feeling others don’t care about them
  • Belief if they weren’t around, their family would be relieved

Let us help you and your family find a better life in the senior years.
