At The Medical Center of Central Georgia, we have a special place in our hearts for children who are sick or injured. That's why we established The Children's Hospital, one of the most comprehensive pediatric services in Georgia. The Children's Hospital at the Medical Center of Central Georgia provides both ambulatory care, at the Children's Health Center, or inpatient care in one of the hospital units. Children receive their care in child friendly health care settings that are staffed with pediatric experts. The Children's Hospital includes a twelve-bed pediatric intensive care unit and 36-bed neonatal intensive care unit, which are located on the third floor of the main hospital. The 35 bed General medical surgical pediatric unit is located in The Children's Hospital on the corner of Spring and Pine streets. Board certified pediatricians and pediatric specialists are available 24 hours a day.
Throughout the Children's Hospital you'll find a warm, nurturing staff and a collection of specialized services providing care for children from newborn through adolescence. You'll also find an atmosphere in which kids are comfortable. From colorful tiled floors and developmentally appropriate paint and wallpaper borders to a playroom filled with arts and crafts, fun murals, video games and toys, we do everything possible to take the "scariness" out of going to the hospital. There's even a special area where adolescent patients can listen to music, watch videos and play computer games.
Whether it's an orthopedic injury or a life-threatening illness, or a baby who has arrived too soon, The Children's Hospital provides unprecedented medical care. And - while we may be tailored for children, parents receive special care, too. Each room outside of the newborn areas is furnished so a parent can stay with the child overnight. For families from out of town, there is a brand new Ronald McDonald House just down the street.
