RN Reentry/Refresher Program

You never really stopped being a nurse, in your heart, did you?

MCCG invites you to return to nursing through their RN Reentry Program. If you are an inactive registered nurse, or an active RN who feels somewhat out of touch with today’s high tech and fast paced health care environment, then MCCG’s RN Reentry Program can help you successfully return to an active nursing career.  MCCG is committed to supporting your successful transition into your chosen profession.

Program Description

The MCCG RN Reentry Program is designed to comply with the Georgia Board of Nursing Guidelines for Reentry (available: www.sos.state.ga.us/plb/rn and prepares participants to reenter active nursing practice through review of current nursing knowledge, practices and skills.

The program provides 40 hours of relevant nursing study and 160 hours of supervised (precepted) clinical experience. Relevant nursing study is accomplished through a combination of instructor-led classes and self-directed computer based training. Precepted clinical experiences are available in a variety of nursing disciplines, including outpatient services, critical care, medical-surgical nursing and mother-baby services.

Flexible scheduling of precepted clinical experiences and computer based training resources allow participants to advance through the program at their own pace. Most participants complete program elements within 7 – 16 weeks; program elements must be completed within 6 months.

Reentry Program Requirements

Each participant must be interviewed minimally by the MCCG Reentry Program Coordinator (in Learning Center)  and demonstrate ability to meet the behavioral expectations of MCCG, Inc.

Each participant must have a current license (active or temporary) to practice nursing in the state of Georgia. [Participants reactivating an inactive Georgia license need to file their application for this process after being accepted for sponsorship by the MCCG Reentry Program].

Each participant must provide results of recent TB testing status and a statement from a physician indicating they may participate in the program without restrictions.  Additional immune status and history may be required, depending on clinical placement.

Each participant must provide proof of personal professional liability insurance prior to clinical placement.

Program Cost:

The cost of the program is $500.00. This includes fees associated with Basic Cardiac Life Support class and access to computer-based training modules used in the program. Payment is due at the time the participant begins the program.
