The Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) is the second largest hospital in the state with a capacity of 637 beds, which includes 34 beds leased to Regency Hospital of Central Georgia, a long-term, acute-care facility. MCCG serves 28 counties and a population of more than 750,000 people in Central and south Georgia. As a referral hospital and a level One Trauma Center, MCCG offers medical-surgical, obstetric, pediatric, and psychiatric services, as well as cardiovascular intensive care, neurology intensive care, and pediatric intensive care. MCCG is committed to medical education and research and is the primary academic hospital for Mercer university school of Medicine, providing residency programs for almost 100 residents.
